Neftekhimik opened the scoring midway through the first period when Andrey Belozyorov took advantage of a chaotic sequence around the net. His attempt bounced off a Metallurg defender and trickled past goaltender Alexander Smolin for a 1-0 lead at 13:39. Despite being outshot 11-8 in the period, Neftekhimik's defense and Zagidulin's sharp saves held firm.
Metallurg ramped up the pressure in the second period. However, they couldn't find the back of the net, as Zagidulin continued his stellar performance. The period ended with no additional goals, and Neftekhimik maintained their 1-0 lead.
Vyacheslav Leshchenko sealed the win for Neftekhimik at 58:42 with an empty-net goal, assisted by Vladimir Bryukvin and Ilya Pastukhov, making it 2-0.
