Kunlun Red Star secured a dramatic 5-4 overtime victory over Admiral on September 6, 2024, at Mytishchi Arena in front of 1,004 spectators.
The game started with Kunlun taking the lead through a penalty shot by Tomáš Jurčo, but Admiral quickly responded with Stepan Starkov's equalizer. Kunlun regained control in the second period with goals from Colin Campbell and Nail Yakupov, pushing the score to 3-1. However, Admiral's Egor Petukhov narrowed the gap with a power-play goal, keeping the game close at 3-2 by the end of the second.
The third period saw back-and-forth action. Tomáš Jurčo extended Kunlun's lead to 4-2, but Admiral fought back with two goals from Petukhov, tying the game 4-4 late in regulation, forcing overtime.
In the extra period, Tyler Graovac clinched the victory for Kunlun, scoring the game-winner just 30 seconds into overtime, assisted by Yakupov. Kunlun outshot Admiral 32-25, and both teams displayed strong offensive efforts throughout the game.
With this win, Kunlun kicked off their home season with a thrilling victory in Mytishchi.
