The match started with a strong push from Barys. Just 2 minutes into the game, Ruslan Ospanov opened the scoring after capitalizing on a puck rebound off the boards, catching Traktor's goaltender, Zachary Fucale, off guard. This was the 20-year-old forward's second career goal in the KHL. The hosts continued to apply pressure, often shooting from various positions, but many of their attempts failed to reach the net.
However, the momentum shifted in the second period due to several costly mistakes by Barys, leading to quick counterattacks by Traktor. Mikhail Kotlyarevsky scored twice, turning the tide in Traktor's favor. The surge was capped off by Andrey Svetlakov, who scored from a pass by Dylan Sikura, putting Traktor ahead 3-1 by the end of the second period.
In the third period, Barys had several good chances, particularly during power plays, but Fucale stood strong, preventing any comeback. With just over a minute left, Vitaly Kravtsov sealed the game with an empty-net goal, bringing the final score to 4-1 in favor of Traktor.
The win marks Traktor's first victory under their new head coach Benoît Groulx, while Barys will need to regroup and focus on minimizing errors going forward.
