On September 5, 2024, Spartak secured a 4-2 victory over CSKA in their KHL regular season matchup at Megasport Arena in Moscow, with 7,969 spectators in attendance. The game was intense from start to finish, with both teams showcasing their best lineups, including several newcomers and young talents.
The match began with both teams vying for control. CSKA managed to take the lead with Pavel Karnaukhov scoring the first goal of the season for his team. Spartak responded near the end of the first period, with Andrey Mironov scoring to tie the game at 1-1.
The second period saw CSKA take the lead again, but Spartak's head coach Alexei Zhamnov successfully challenged the goal due to goalie interference. Shortly after, Prokhor Poltapov legally scored for CSKA during a power play, but Spartak quickly equalized with Pavel Poryadin finding the back of the net, making it 2-2.
In the final period, Spartak increased the tempo and Dmitry Vishnevsky scored to give Spartak a 3-2 lead. Despite CSKA's efforts, including pulling their goaltender for an extra skater, Spartak sealed the victory with an empty-net goal by Andrey Loktionov, following a brilliant play by Mikhail Maltsev.
The game concluded with a 4-2 win for Spartak.
