Glasgow Clan will head to Belfast on 14 February with a slender, but nonetheless significant, one-goal advantage when the teams meet for the return leg at the SSE Arena.
In what was a tight game throughout, it took until four seconds from the end of the opening period to bring the first goal – Matt Beca the scorer. 5:32 into period two the Clan doubled their lead through Gerard Hanson, taking a two-goal lead in the tie. Kyle Baun pulled one back for the Giants on a powerplay at 33:54, but that would be where the scoring ended.
The sides will start at a 2-1 aggregate lead for the Clan in Belfast in just over a fortnight.
