Denmark got the important win against neighbor Norway when the teams entered the tournament on the second day of the World Championship in Russia.

Nicklas Jensen who has spend this season in AHL was the Danish attacker of the day with two goals. He scored 1-0 early in the second period with a nifty move that fooled Norwegian goalie Lars Haugen. He also scored an empty net goal just 15 seconds before the end to secure the Danish 3-0 win. Before that, Jesper B Jensen had made it 2-0 with a nice shot from the right circle.
Norway dominated the play and outshot Denmark 44-28, but the lacked efficiency. "We made two errors and they scored on both. That's brutal!", says Norwegian veteran Mathis Olimb to VG.
