Slovak anthem plays also for the third time

Similar in name of country, similar in look of national flag and also in recent history. But so different according to hockey-background in their countries. On programme of the 2015 Worlds Championship Day Five, Slovakia played Slovenia, for the fourth time in history. Before today, Slovakia lost to Slovenia only once at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia. But the first period of their another mutual game in Ostrava suggested how easy could be the history repeated.

Eventhough they were Slovaks pushing and attacking the most of the first twenty minutes, it was Team Slovenia to score. During the evening`s first penalty kill of Slovakia in time 6:20, Jan Urbas deflected an Ales Kranjc`s wristshot from the blueline and shocked 99% of audience in Ostrava`s ČEZ Aréna.

But the riot of Slovak fans did not stop so did not further offensive efforts of the players they cheered for. However, regardless several good opportunities, the score 0:1 was valid even after the middle-session.

Twelve minutes to go in the third period, almost 9.000 Slovaks in the stands finally got their reward - Andrej Meszaros added his third goal in two games (and third all-career for the national team) 

The audience asked for some more goals. And earned what they asked for. 5:44 before the end, a living-legend in uniform of Slovakia Marian Gaborik sent his club to the lead and the real party in stands has started.

What`s more, in time 59:59 Marian Gaborik received one more when hitting the empty Slovenian net and closed the score at 3:1.

For Slovakia this is the third victory out of three games, but the first after regulation, however it is enough to exchange Belarus in the second position in Group B. Slovenia leaves the seventh while keeping no points.
