After two seasons in HockeyAllsvenskan Djurgården is back at the highest level of Swedish hockey.
Djurgården beat Västerås 6-2 in the last round of Kvalserien (the six-team qualification series to SHL) to earn promotion to SHL. At the same time Rögle beat AIK 4-3. Those results meant that Djurgården finished ahead of Rögle thanks to two goals better goal difference.
AIK finished fifth of the six teams and relegate to HockeyAllsvenskan. Since earlier it was decided that Örebro wins Kvalserien and stays in SHL.
Djurgården started Kvalserien badly and had only earned three points after the four first games, but then followed fourteen points in the last six games.
