Another overtime win for SKA - Avangard loses PO opener

SKA beat Spartak Moskva 4-3 in overtime, and just like yesterday Mattias Weinhandl got the game-winner. SKA is the only team with a 2-0 lead in the KHL 1/8 finals.

 
 
 
 
SKA St. Petersburg 4:3 OT Spartak Moskva
Yesterday when SKA St. Petersburg beat Spartak Moskva in overtime Mattias Weinhandl scored the final goal. So he did today and just like yesterday the final score was 4-3. From the 7th minute till the 53rd SKA was in the lead but at 52:53 Mikhail Zhukov tied the game for Spartak with a short-handed goal. Weinhandl´s deciding goal came at 66:43.

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 1:4 Dinamo Minsk
Dinamo Minsk got revenge for yesterday´s loss to Lokomotiv and won 4-1 today. Andrei Mikhalev scored the second and fourth goal for the Belarusian team.

Dynamo Moskva 8:4 Dinamo Riga
Dynamo Moskva won 8-4 against Riga and tied the series at 1. Chris Simon got two goals. Konstantin Gorovikov and Leonid Komarov both had a goal and a couple of assists.

Atlant Moscow Oblast 2:5 Severstal Cherepovets
Severstal got an important 5-2 win away to Atlant and the series is now 1-1. Atlant out-shot Severstal 47-26 but the Severstal goalie Vasily Koshechkin made 45 saves.

Avangard Omsk 1:2 OT Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk
Avangard Omsk entered the playoffs with 18 games in a row without a loss. But now it is playoffs time and Neftekhimik showed the home team that they did not come to lose. Igor Polygalov scored both Neftekhimik goals including the overtime 2-1 game-winner.

Ak Bars Kazan 1:0 Barys Astana
Ak Bars only scored one goal agaist Barys Astana, but that was enough to win game one 1-0. Jarkoo Immonen scored th goal at 13:34 of the first period assisted by Danis Zaripov. Petri Vehanen made 31 saves to earn the shutout.

Salavat Yulayev Ufa 5:2 Sibir Novosibirsk
Salavat Yulaev Ufa beat Sibir Novosibirsk 5-2 in another series opener. Igor Grigorenko and Petr Schastlivy scored two goals each and Vladimir Antipov scored one goal. Vyacheslav Belov and Ville Niemienen got Sibir´s goals.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk 4:2 Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk
Metallurg Magnitogorsk beat Yugra 4-2 at home in the first game of the series. Juhamatti Aaltonen, Oleg Kvasha, Petri Kontiola and Enver Lisin got the goals.
