Now the Polish league will continue with the play-offs. In Poland the teams at the first four spots after the regular round can choose their opponent for the 1st Round in the play-offs. And what is more, there is a beneficiation rule for every play-offs round. Every team that was more successful in the regular season in four mutual games, basically leads 1:0 in the series already before its start.
The play-offs in the Polish hockey league started on February 9th and the latest deadline when we get to know the name of the Polish champion, is March 23rd, 2011. In the 2nd play-offs round there are two semifinal rounds and also the battles for the 5th - 8th place. The third play-off rounds according to Polish way means the finals, 3rd place series, 5th place series and 7th round series.
Along with the start of quarter final series, also the battle for the 9th spot starts. It will be very tough because only its winner will play in the Polish league also in the next season. The last, 10th team, relegates directly and in the 2011-12 season will play in the 1st league. The battles start on February 10th and the winner will be known not later than on February 25th.
As we have written above, the opponents for the quarter final round are not given according to the standings after the regular season. The more successful teams can pick its opponent. The opponents are as follow: Cracovia – Sosnowiec, Tychy – Gdańsk, Oswiecim – Nowy Targ and Jastrzębie – Sanok. All the teams, that start at home, are favorites. They all have a beneficiation 1-0 in the series because they are better in mutual games comparison.
