Skellefteå AIK lifts the Le Mat trophy after blanking Luleå winning both the series and the last final 4-0.
It was the second title in history for a club, the previous won in 1978. A very well deserved gold for Skellefteå a team with a great mix of own talents and stars playing an offensive game. One of the young players Viktor Arvidsson "We have played so good. We've been respecting the game"
Skellefteå got a dream start to the final when Oscar Möller made it 1-0 already after three minutes, when he scored on his own rebound. After 15 minutes Skellefteå doubled the lead and took a grip of the gold that they never lost. The goal scored by Erik Forssell with a great backhand shot.
Skellefteå domintade the two periods big and had 18-8 in shots in both. Johan Forsberg, who made his first apperance of the final series, made it 3-0 when he raced clear and scored after a deke.
A long 5 on 3 should have killed the final completely but surprisingly Skellefteå's power play has been bad and they haven't scored there since semi final 2.
Luleå had some chances in the third but failed to scored once again, scoring only three games in four final games and after a last desperate effort with pulling the goalie Erik Forssell could score his second goal of the goal on the empty net and the celebrations could start.
"It's wonderful. We have been fighting so hard for this", Joacim Eriksson said who made a great game for the shutout. "I think we're worth this".
