After winning in Belarus against Dinamo Minsk, KHL returnees Lokomotiv Yaroslavl are the team in the whole league with most points
The match in Minsk began quite eventful with three goals in the first 7 minutes. Sergei Plotnikov and Niklas Hagman had opened the score for the guests from Yaroslavl before Dinamo cut the lead to just one through Andrei Stas. Although Dinamo managed to get a clear advantage in shots on goal in the following two periods, Lokomotiv lockout goalie Semyon Varlamov who usually plays for the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL, stopped all further opportunities of the home team. No team in the league has more points than Lokomotiv (25) at the moment.
In the duel of two direct competitors Severstal Cherepovets gained a clear 4-0 win over Atlant Moscow Oblast. Finnish import Teemu Lakso scored the 1-0 at 9:06. Late in the second period Evgeny Ketov and Alexander Ryazantsev decided the match with two power play strikes. Denis Kazionov even added a shorthander at 48:54. Vasily Koshechkin between the Severstal posts earned his first shutout of the season. Now Cherepovets is only two points behind Atlant.
Vityaz Chekhov only earned their fourth win of the current campaign by defeating Torpedo Nizhni Novgorod at home due to a great race to catch up. Dmitry Makarov and Martin Thornberg had brought the guests in front with two goals until the begin of the middle period but four consecutive goals by Vityaz through Pavel Chernov, Artemy Panarin, Josh Hennessy and Evgeny Timkin kept all three points in Chekhov.
