The quarterfinal between Pelicans and Kärpät will head to a seventh game

A very exciting 6th game ended in the overtime when Pelicans' Radek Smolenak scored his second goal of the game and kept Pelicans alive.

Kärpät were dominant in the first and second period but at the beginning of the third period when Pelicans equalized Kärpät went totally frozen. Pelicans were actually close to win already in regular time but somehow Kärpät managed to equalize with Jari Viuhkola's goal only one minute remaining in the third period.

Kärpät were offered a chance to close it up when Pelicans was penalized 45 seconds before the end of regulation but Kärpät continued their poor powerplay. Some four minutes after Pelicans' penalty was over Smolenak scored a bit lucky rebound goal and sent the series into the seventh game.

However this series has been so tight that seventh game will be totally open case and chances to win will be fifty fifty.
