Game recap

Guildford Flames might have taken the league points on Sunday in a tight game but there was no doubt about which team was the better on Wednesday evening at the Motorpoint Arena.

Nottingham will take a four-goal aggregate lead to Guildford next week thanks to a dominating performance on home ice. Sam Herr got the ball rolling at 9:11 on a powerplay followed by Brett Bulmer scoring shorthanded just over two minutes later. A great opening period for the hosts saw Herr score again at 14:31 to put the Panthers three ahead.

Guildford were back in things at 23:40 with a nicely worked goal finished by Ian Watters, but 56 seconds later the Panthers were back three ahead with a strange goal credited to Brett Perlini.

The final goal of the game was scored on 43 minutes by Jon Rheault from close range after which the Flames were not able to give themselves any extra help ahead of the return leg.
