Game recap

Cardiff Devils end 2019 still just two points off top spot thanks to a 4-3 win in Coventry, a game in which the blaze came from two goals behind but weren't able to take at least a point from.

Luke Ferrara score the game's opening goal on the powerplay with Bowns stranded, but Mark Louis levelled the Devils at 13:24 after a great pass from Toms Rutkis on the rush.

Charles Linglet capitalised on a turnover to put the Devils ahead at 25:08, but the real drama was to come in period three.

Bryce Reddick looked to have given the Devils a comfortable 3-1 lead at 44:10 in fortunate fashion - the puck coming back off the boards after Gleason Fournier's shot, and bouncing off Reddick into the net. However, Evan Bloodoff's fine solo effort brought the hosts back to within one 31 seconds later, and at 47:17 Andrew Johnston raised the Skydome's roof with the equaliser.

The Devils were ahead though only 44 seconds later through Mike McNamee who's shot from the circle seemed to elude everyone through a screen.  Coventry created chances to tie things up again late on but were unable to beat Ben Bowns and ended the game perhaps deserving more.
