Game recap

Cardiff extended their lead at the top to four points over Belfast with a two-goal win in Glasgow in front of the FreeSports cameras, as the Clan slipped to their fifth straight loss.

The lone goal of the opening period came with 1:14 left on the clock as Mike Hedden tipped Bryce Reddick shot’s past Joel Rumpel. 48 seconds into period two the Devils doubled their lead through Stephen Dixon, before at 24:07 Drew Schiestel went down the wing and beat Rumpel with a quick wrist-shot. Three goals for the visitors in just over five minutes of elapsed game time.

The home side were back in the game however just past the halfway mark, a perfect pass across the crease from Scott Pitt found Matt Beca to tap home at the far post at 32:13. Before the period was done though the Devils were back to a three-goal lead when Dixon pounced on the rebound to Hedden’s shot with 3:36 left in the second.

Again the Clan pulled the score back to a two-goal deficit, this time with Pitt the scorer 4:11 into the final period. However that was to be a close as they got to the Devils, Ben Bowns helping the visitors to close the door for the rest of the game.
