Belfast Giants perfect for Keefe

Belfast Giants perfect for Keefe

09 Sep 2017 | Fredrik Pålsson

Adam Keefe was announced as Head Coach of The Stena Line Belfast Giants in May 2017, after being Player/Assistant Coach for the last two years. Keefe will now have the task of motivating a Giants squad to battle for their fifth Elite League Championship.

Head of Hockey Operations for the club, Steve Thornton welcomed the new appointment, stating ‘Adam understands what it means to be a Giant, what the Giants mean to the community and he is one of the best leaders’ ever seen.

Ever since the Canadian arrived at the club in 2011, he has been an influential figure both on and off the ice. He immediately made his debut as Assistant Captain and the next year took up the mantle as Captain until the end of player career in the 2016/2017 seasons. In his six seasons as a player, Adam was involved in 352 games, posted 56 goals and 78 assists. No one can doubt is devotion to the club, and as a player one of his best memories will be captaining the Giants to a
record points total in 2013/2014; when the club won the Championship with ten games yet to play!

Fans will be confident that Adam will continue to bring even more success to the club in his new role. Anyone familiar with his play will know that he has an ethos of consistent hard work; physical game play and non-stop focus on the puck. Since his appointment, the club has welcomed nine new players so that one of the main tasks will be making sure that everyone settles in and everyone in the squad bonds as a team. Adam knows this will be a testing time for the club, but there is no one better suited to overcome these challenges.

Furthermore, Keefe will be strengthen by the recent appointment of Brandon Benedict who has agreed on a Player/Assistant role at the club; and will be a huge asset to both the club and Head Coach. Like Adam, Brandon has a strong work ethic and a vast amount of experience in the game and more importantly, winning tournaments.

Most established sports betting operators like Unibet, cover a huge amount of Ice Hockey betting markets; and like everyone who keenly follow the sport, will be looking forward to Belfast Giants taking on the Manitoba Bisons in a double header in the coming weekend. This will no doubt provide an insight into what is to come and how the team’s progress is coming along to cope with the pressure of the new season.
