Perfect start for Czech reigning champions

HC Eaton Pardubice, the reigning champions of Tipsport extraliga, won both their first quarterfinal play-off games away at Zlin. Regular season winners from Trinec managed to do the same on their home soil. Other series are tied.

The most scoring team of the regular season from Trinec started the play-offs with a six goal hammering of their opponent. Litvinov did much better in the second game, leading 2-0 after just five minutes, only to lose narrowly 3-2. Radek Bonk and Martin Ruzicka both made 4 points.

Slavia earned the first win of the series with two goals late in the third period of the first game. Liberec came back strongly on the following day, scoring four power play goals to tie the series.

Petr Pohl scored two goals, one of them into an open net, to guide Vitkovice to their first series win. It was a completely different story in the next game, when home team tore visitors defense apart with four goals in the second half of the game.

Two narrow away wins put Pardubice, 5th after regular season, into a comfortable position for their home games. Martin Bartek won the first game for the visitors in 8th minute of overtime, while one day later, their second victory was confirmed with an empty net goal.
