The last round of Swedish Elitserien that will be played today couldn't be more interesting. Three teams fight for the top spot of the regular season and five teams are involved in the fight at the bottom of the table in the chase for the last playoff spot and to avoid the relegation round.
Skellefteå leads Elitserien before the last round, one point ahead of chasing HV71 and Färjestad. Skellefteå has a big advantage as they finish the regular season with a home game against Linköping - a team in the middle of the standings with poor form and not much to play for. HV71 has an away game to Södertälje who must win to be sure not to end up in Kvalserien, the relegation round. Färjestad will play Brynäs at home and should win because Brynäs, like Linköping, are stuck in the middle and the points from this game wouldn't mean much for them.
At the bottom new-comers AIK are in the 8th place - the last Quarter Final place. AIK has 2 points more than Södertälje and Frölunda who keep the 9th and 10th spots. The teams who finish 9th and 10th will be done for the season after today´s game. No playoffs - no relegation games. Below the line that takes you to Kvalserien against four teams from HockeyAllsvenskan are Modo and Timrå. Modo and Timrå are only one point behind Södertälje and Frölunda so a playoff spot could even be possible, at least for Modo who has a decent goal difference. Today´s games in the last round: Luleå-Frölunda Skellefteå-Linköping Färjestad-Brynäs AIK-Modo Timrå-Djurgården Södertälje-HV71
