KAC Klagenfurt wins the regular season of the Eishockey Liga. Playoff starts on Sunday.
The Austrian Eishockey Liga with teams not only from Austria but also from Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia finished it's regular season today. The league is still dominated by the Austrian clubs with the Austrian teams in first sixth places.
KAC Klagenfurt won the league with 78 points, ten points ahead of Red Bulls Salzburg. The best non Austrian team was Olimpija Ljubljana from Slovenia. Croatian side KHL Medvescak Zagreb grabbed the last playoff spot three points ahead of Alba Volan Szekesfehervar from Hungary and Acroni Jesenice from Slovenia.
In the quarterfinals, which start already on Sunday, KAC will play Medvescak, Red Bulls will play Olimpija, Vienna Capitals will face Graz 99ers and VSV Villach will play Linz.
Vienna Capitals Francois Fortier is the league top scorer with 48 goals and 36 assists in 51 games. He was 11 points ahead of his team mate Benoit Gratton.
