The KHL playoffs started today. Lokomotiv beat Minsk 7-4. The other three games today were all decided in overtime.

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl got a great start of the playoffs when Dinamo Minsk was defeated
7-4. Lokomotiv had a 5-1 lead early in the second period but 3 Minsk goals in a row made the third period interesting. Alexander Kalyanin and Josef Vasicek closed the game with a goal each in the final minutes.

Jaroslav Obsut was the hero when Atlant got away with an overtime win against Severstal. At 73:22, when Atlant had a power-play, Obsut scored the game-winning
3-2 goal assisted by Fedor Fedorov and Sergei Mozyakin.

Spartak Moskva |
In St. Petersburg Mattias Weinhandl got the
4-3 overtime winner for the home team against Spartak Moskva at 67:31. SKA had been ahead for most of the game but Branko Radivojevic scored his second of the game goal just 3 seconds before the buzzer to take the game to overtime.

The only away team, and lower ranked team, to win on the opening day were Latvia´s only KHL team Dynamo Riga. Riga beat Dynamo Moskva
2-1 in overtime. Oskars Cibulskis scored the final goal at 62:43. Mark Hartigan scored the first Latvian goal and Leonid Komarov tied it for Moskva.
The teams will play again tomorrow and then the other eight teams also enter the playoffs.
