Russia wins LG Hockey Games opener

Russia beat Finland 5-3 in Megasport Arena Khodynka in Moscow. The teams are now flying to Stockholm to play Sweden and Czech Republic on Saturday and Sunday in this Euro Hockey Tour tournament.
Russia had a 4-1 lead against Finland with six minutes remaining of the third period but goals by Jani Lajunen and Ossi Louhivaara made the final minutes interesting. Finland pulled goaltender Karri Rämö at 59:15. 15 seconds later Maksim Afinogenov scored 5-3 into the empty net.
Tommi Santala opened the scoring for Finland at the 10-minute mark of the first period. 7 minutes later the game was tied by Aleksandr Kalyanin. In the second period Evgeny Artyukhin made it 2-1 Russia before Kalyanin scored his second of the day. 4-1 was scored by Yuri Trubachev halfways through the third period.
