Kazakhstan gold medal winners in the 7th Asian Winter Games

In the decisive game for the gold medals the home team Kazakhstan beat the 2007 champion Japan 4-1 in Astana.
Both teams came to the final game with three wins; against South Korea, China and Taiwan. The first period was scoreless. There were no goals until the final minutes of the second period.

Fukufuji Yutaka who touched the puck, but it went up in the air and then landed in the Japanese net at 38:46.
Ilya Solarev scored 2-0 for Kazakhstan with just two minutes remaining of the second period.
Maksim Semenov scored his first goal of the tournament when he made 3-0 on the power play. Japan’s only goal was scored at 48:37 by
Jun Tonosaki. Also a power play goal.
Roman Starchenko got the last goal of the game at 56:04 when he scored 4-1.
The game between South Korea and China earlier today was also important for the final standings. Thanks to a solid 11-1 win the Korean team captured the bronze medals while China ended fourth.
Ki-Sung Kim,
Won-Jung Kim and
Sang-Woo Sin scored two goals each.
Taiwan also played in the Top Division but was never close to the other teams. 4 losses; 0-22, 0-18, 0-35 and 1-10. North Korea didn’t participate in the tournament this year.
