Bratislava is looking for €30 mil. for the 2011 WC arena reconstruction
In the process of the old Ondrej Nepela stadium reconstruction things are going harder and harder. If the reconstruction went well, the arena would be already opened again. But there’s delay and the Ondrej Nepela stadium will be ready for use in April. And this is not the only worry of the reconstruction works investor – the city of Bratislava major Milan Ftáčník – for the payment for the works are 30 millions € missing.
One of its reasons is that works are more expensive than expected. According the original project it should cost 74 mil. €, but now the price of works won’t fall under 96 mil. €.
The Bratislava major Ftáčník is asking the Slovak government for a help, but the Government isn’t incident with another financial injections for the Nepela Stadium reconstructions, because the Government already sent grant of 40 mil. €.
According to the Slovak parliament member’s statements, the reconstruction should be processed by legibility audits as well as current agrees for the arena renting. They also don’t like behavior of the Slovak Ice Hockey federation bosses, because they don’t want to take a share in the arena reconstruction outcomes.
The Federation answers back that it shouldn’t be ordinary if the Federation would participate with the reconstruction payments. They just want to rent the arena for the tournament as well as another host countries in history or as well as singers are doing for concerts.
The situation is quite tangled. This case won’t have any influence for the World Championships, the rest of the works on the Arena will be done in three months, but the question is who will pay them after tournament?
The Bratislava city hall counts on releasing 10 mil. € from the city budget and for 12 mil. € the Government was asked. Remaining 8 millions Bratislava has reached thanks to the restructuring of the last year’s unpaid invoices.
