The defense of the 2012 Swedish champion Brynäs continues to leak. Today they were beaten 7-1 at home to Färjestad. Rögle also suffered a 7-1 loss to AIK. Third straight shutout game for Skellefteå.
Brynäs IF - Färjestads BK
1 - 7 (1-2, 0-3, 0-2)
Brynäs has allowed 72 goals in 23 home games. No other team is close to that number. Today the goalie Johan Holmqvist allowed 5 goals and was replaced after two periods. Robin Rahm entered and allowed another two goals. Rickard Wallin led Färjestad with two goals, the first and the last of the game. He also got an assist. Marius Holtet, Ville Lajunen, Per Åslund, Marcus Paulsson abd Chris Lee also scored. Andreas Thuresson scored the home team's only goal for 1-1. As HV71 lost Färjestad got closer to the second place of the standings. The teams just behind them, Luleå and Linköping, also lost today.
AIK - Rögle BK
7 - 1 (2-0, 2-0, 3-1)
AIK still has a small chance to reach the playoffs after tonight's show against Rögle. Broc Little got five assists in the 7-1 win. Mattias Janmark-Nylén was the only player to score twice. He scored the two first goals of the games. Then Stefan Johansson, Tobias Viklund, Christian Sandberg, Esa Pirnes and Björn Melin scored before Mathias Tjärnqvist scored the only goal for the visitors.
Skellefteå AIK - Växjö Lakers HC
2 - 0 (1-0, 1-0, 0-0)
For the third game in a row Skellefteå kept their net clean except for a shootout goal in the game against Luleå six days ago. Tonight Joacim Eriksson guarded the net and made 22 saves. Oscar Lindberg and Oscar Möller scored the goals.
Linköpings HC - Timrå IK
0 - 4 (0-1, 0-1, 0-2)
After five losses in a row Timrå surprised Linköping beating them 4-0. The captain Per Hallin scored two goalas and an assist. Christian Söderberg and Max Friberg were the other goal scorers. Joakim Lundström made 32 saves to earn the shut-out.
MODO Hockey - Luleå HF
2 - 1 (0-1, 0-0, 1-0, 1-0)
Linus Persson gave Luleå an early lead against MODO. The lead lasted for 42 minutes but then Peter Öberg tied it for the home team. MODO also got the winning goal when Niklas Sundtröm scored in overtime.
HV 71 - Frölunda HC
2 - 3 (0-2, 0-1, 2-0)
Frölunda stays in stays in touch with the teams above in the standings after the 3-2 win agaist HV 71. Frölunda opened with unanswered goals by Joel Lundqvist and Magnus Kahnberg twice. Rhett Rakhshani scored 1-3 and Andreas Jämtin 2-3 when the HV goalie Gustaf Wesslau was pulled at 57:39. When Jämtin scored Frölunda's goalie Linus Fernström was injured and Mathias Israelsson entered the Elitserien ice for the first time. He faced two shots and saved both so Frölunda got away with the win.
