Three of the four teams at the bottom of the Elitserien standings played last night. None of them scored a goal. Växjö lost 2-0 to HV71, Timrå 2-0 to Linköping and Rögle 4-0 to Färjestad.

Timrå-Linköping 0-2
Linköping won the third game in a row and is now only one point behind Luleå that are third in the standings. For Timrå the situation is not good. Kvalserien is getting closer. Joachim Nermark scored the first goal and Jonas Almtorp added 2-0 in the empty net just a few seconds before the end. Shutout for Christian Engstrand.

"There are 20 games remaining", says Timrås coach Tomas Montén to Sundsvalls Tidning. "There isn't much to do, for us it is important to keep the line as we have said, to build a new team. Now we have to get back to the hard work and the war to close in on the teams above us."

HV71-Växjö
HV71 won the derby between the two Småland teams. Jesper Williamsson made it 1-0 in the first period. Johan Davidsson scored an empty net goal for 2-0 and broke the Elitserien scoring record (regular season+playoffs) scoring his 659th point, one more than Jörgen Jönsson.

Frölunda-Rögle 4-0
Per-Johan Axelsson scored twice and Dick Axelsson and Christian Bäckman a goal each when Frölunda beat the last team of the standings,Rögle, 4-0.

The newcomer Rögle started the season with the goal to qualify for the playoffs but now the goal isn't as optimistic: "We are realistic and realize that the goal is revised long ago", says the coach Dan Tangnes to Helsingborgs Dagblad. "Now it's about survival. The club's goal has been clear from day one: that we should establish ourselves in the top division."

Brynäs-Luleå 3-1
Sebastian Enterfeldt scored twice for Brynäs who now are 15 points before Växjö on the ninth place. Enterfeldt opened the scoring at 3:23 and just three minutes later Andreas Thuresson made it 2-0. Sami Sandell scored Luleå's only goal in the third period.

MODO-Färjestad 2-3 (SO)
Joakim Hillding scored two goals including the shooutout winner when Färjestad beat MODO away. Rickard Wallin also scored for Färjestad. Richie Regehr and Niklas Sundström scored for MODO.
