The second EHT-tournament of the season continued with wins for Russia and Sweden. With one game day left Russia looks good to win their home tournament.
Russia are on a good track to win their own EHT tournament after another win. Today the red machine defeated the Czech Republic 3-1. The game was won in the first period when Russia went up to a 2-0 lead. Igor Grigorenko scored the opener after four minutes and Ilya Nikulin added the second on a power play. The Russians outshot the Czechs 12-6 in the first period while the rest of the game was even both in shots on goal and goals.
Tomas Rolinek gave the Czechs some hope with an early goal in the second period but just three minutes later the two goal lead was restored for the home team when Aleksandr Radulov found the net with another power play goal. Despite several Russian penalties the home team managed to stay in control of the game and the last 35 minutes of the game was goalless.
In the other game of the day Sweden won easy against a weak Finnish team. The final score was 6-1 after two short handed goals by the Swedes. The Finnish goalie Eera Kilpeläinen had a dark game making two huge mistakes to give Sweden easy goals.
Sweden had control throughot the game and outshot Finland 35-22. Daniel Brodin was the best player in Sweden with one goal and one assist. The other Swedish goals were scored by Sebastian Erixon, Joakim Lindström, Mattias Sjögren, Nicklas Danielsson and Magnus Johansson. The Finnish goal was scored by Janne Pesonen.
