Västerås IK was founded in 1913 and started playing ice hockey in 1939. The ice hockey section of Västerås IK was later separated and was active until 2000, when the club folded and the pro team was moved to the club Västerås IK Ungdom, which changed to its current name in 2005.

There's been four preseason games in Sweden today. VIK Västerås HK-Linköping HC 1-2, AIK-Vita Hästen 2-1, Mora IK-Leksands IF, Sundsvall-Österund 2-3 (SO). With Linköpings win, the team now have four straight wins.

Sparta Sarpsborg – Karlskoga, Huddinge – AIK, Björklöven – Asplöven, Östersund – Timrå and Västerås – Vita Hästen.

Linköping HC will stand up against Skellefteå AIK, Västerås VIK will take on Djurgårdens IF and IK Pantern will face Malmö Redhawks

VIK Västerås Hockey, HockeyAllsvenskan, have signed college forward Cody Murphy, 24. The contract is signed to one year. -"He's going to play in our first or second line," Västerås Sporting Director, Niklas Johansson said to vik.se.
(15 Jul 2015)More NHL players to HockeyAllsvenskan
Two more NHL lockout players signed with teams in the Swedish second league HockeyAllsvenskan. Brendan Mikkelson will play for Västerås and Marcus Johansson for Karlskoga.
Viktor Fasth, Mikael Backlund, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonathan Ericsson, Mike Santorelli, Anze Kopitar, Carl Hagelin, Matt Read, Douglas Murray and Patrik Berglund already play in the league.
(30 Oct 2012)Alexandre Rouleau suddenly retires
French-Canadian defender Alexandre Rouleau suddenly announces his retirement from active hockey to become General Manager of QMJHL Val d'Or Foreurs, the team where he spent four seasons before to play in France for five seasons, one in Briançon and four in Grenoble. Last april he signed a two-years contract with Allsvenska's Vasteras but he didn't appeared at training camp. Vasteras management is considering to sue Rouleau.
