One goal enough for HPK
HPK beat Kärpät 1-0 tonight in the sixth game of the Finnish Liiga finals. Valtteri Puustinen scored the lonely goal in the second period. The Finnish championship will now be decided in the seventh game on Saturday.

All three teams of MHL won their opening game of the Junior Club World Cup yesterday. HK Riga beat Dubuque Fighting Saints 5-2, Dinamo-Shinnik Bobruisk beat Sudbury Wolves 5-1 and Omsk Hawks got a 5-1 win over Vitkovice.
In the fourth game Finnish HPK beat Swedish Frölunda 4-3.
(26 Aug 2013)Ari-Pekka Selin is Barys new coach
Barys Astana announces Finnish Ari-Pekka Selin as new head coach. Selin, 50, worked at Ilves, Saipa and last season at HPK Hämeenlinna and was Finland national team assistant coach at last World Championship. He signed a two-years contract.
Andrei Shayanov and Erlan Sagymbaev, along with former Ilves coach Raimo Helminen will be the assistents
SM-liiga club HPK fires coach
Finnish SM-liiga's team HPK from Hämeenlinna has fired coach Harri Rindell on Sunday. HPK has played the whole season very poor and it is currently at the last place of the table (14th) and is fighting against the relegation games which the last team will face at the end of the season. Rindell is replaced by Timo Lehkonen who has earlier been assistant coach for HPK but was currently working with the juniors of the team.
