Before 1933, ice hockey was already played at TV Frankenhausen , which in 1940, 1941 and 1942 became Saxon champion.
In 1946 the SG Frankenhausen was re-founded. In 1949 and 1950 , the ice hockey team of the club reached the "Championship of the Soviet occupied zone" and 1949 also Saxon champions.
1952 SG Frankenhausen was renamed BSG Wismut Erz Frankenhausen and won the 1953 FDGB Cup.
As 1953, the second team ascended to the second highest league, was transferred to Zwickau and played there as BSG Wismuth Zwickau until the dissolution
In 1955 the team was transferred to Karl Marx City , where the team initially played as SC Wismuth Karl Marx City , later as SC Motor Karl Marx City until the dissolution in 1960. This meant the end of the first-class ice hockey in Frankenhausen.
In 1994 the SG Frankenhausen was again founded. Today, the ice hockey players only play as a hobby team in Crimmitschau .
