In September 2011, the former Transcona Junior Railers ceased operations after 34 years in existence. After recognizing this void in the community, a group of 10 former Railer junior hockey player alumni acted by formulating a business plan and made applications to the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League for a new club.
On Saturday, January 7, 2012 The Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League voted to accept a ‘new' Transcona franchise for the upcoming 2012-13 season.
