The Belfast Giants ran out comfortable 4-1 winners over the Fife Flyers who rarely troubled their hosts on Halloween night at the SSE Arena
The Giants had the better of the opening 20 minutes but weren't ahead until well inside the latter half. At 16:57 a shot came off the backboards and Scott Conway was able to get his stick to the loose puck first to open the scoring and break Fife's resistance.
Just 72 seconds later Lewis Hook doubled the lead with a deflection on a shot from Mark Garside at the point - the play was reviewed but the goal cleared to stand.
Quick-fire goals were also the key to the middle period for the Giants, who effectively won the game in the in 35 minutes. A nice move by Jordan Boucher put the Giants three ahead at 33:01, and 90 seconds later it was four when Mark Cooper shot past Shane Owen.
James Anderson had the Flyers’ only highlight of the night at 49:11 with the Giants recording 4-1 victory overall.
Belfast has already won Group A of the Premier Sports Challenge Cup, but two more points now makes them highly likely to be first seeds in the Quarter-Finals.
