Game recap

Dundee Stars did their playoff push no end of good with a road win away to table-toppers Sheffield - condemning the Steelers to a third defeat in succession.

Things started well for the league leaders who went ahead with 6:24 on the board at the FlyDSA Arena – Aaron Brocklehurst’s pass allowing Marc-Olivier Vallerand to fire past Alex Leclerc on the powerplay. Dundee levelled at 15:56 with gone as Matt Marquardt’s wrist shot from the circle seemed to take a deflection on its way past Tomáš Duba.

Period two belonged to the Stars who went ahead in the game with 3:12 played in the second through Egils Kalns who slotted home a perfect pass from Anthony Beauregard. Beauregard then turned goalscorer with 33:14 gone deflecting the puck high over Duba from Kevin Dufour’s feed, and with 1:24 left in the period Matt Carter extended the visitors’ lead to 4-1.

Colton Kroeker ensured that Dundee would take the points with a rocket fired home at 52:20, although Marek Trončinský had the last word with a nice solo effort shortly before the end of the game.
