Game recap

Cardiff Devils stayed three points behind Sheffield Steelers with a 5-2 win over Dundee Stars. The Devils will host the Steelers next weekend in a huge game in the title race.

Early powerplay goals helped the Devils into a two-goal lead after 20 minutes. Blair Riley for the first inside seven minutes, hile Joey Haddad made it two at 14:51 to give the hosts the perfect start.

Matt Pope at 22:29 took the score out to 3-0 before Kevin Dufour pulled one back for the Stars on their own man advantage. After some good pressure from the visitors, Stephen Dixon re-established the home side's cushion at 34:50, while excellent work to force a turnover from Joey Haddad saw him slot past Alex Leclerc for 5-1, shorthanded, at 38:08.

That goal effectively killed the game off, although a powerful Matt Marquardt effort brought Dundee back to within three with 6:05 to play.
