Game recap

Coventry Blaze fans may well have a new cult hero in netminder CJ Mette after getting three of four points this weekend against high-flying Guildford.

Andrew Johnston's nice spin and pass to set up Luke Ferrara for the game's opening goal 63 seconds in put the Blaze into a lead that they would never lose. Matt Pohlkamp's goals at 10:32 and 13:42 made it 3-0 by the end of the first period, and only 90 seconds into the second brother Chris made it four. Janne Lakkonnen scored the only other goal of the period at 26:44 after Luke Ferrara's shot saw a big rebound come back from Wouter Peeters.

Dillon Lawrence made it 6-0 59 seconds into the final period with Andrew Johnston bringing up the seventh 11 seconds after. Cam Braes got the Flames on the board at 42:44, and following a trademark Calle Ackered powerplay marker at 44:15 Danny Stewart called a timeout to re-focus Blaze minds. Johnston got his second of the night at 52:18, with Brett Ferguson converting off TJ Foster's pass 31 seconds from the end the final of the night's 11 goals.
