Game recap

A Brendan Connolly goal 21 seconds from the end of overtime gave Sheffield a win in a nine-goal thriller against local rivals Nottingham - a win that moves the Steelers back to within a point of top spot in the table.

John Armstrong's goal 53 seconds in hag most of the 8,047-strong crowd on their feet - and they were doing so again at 12:50 when Aaron Brocklehurst doubled the lead. Mark Matheson struck at 13:09 to ensure the Panthers would only trail by one at the break, but they turned things around in period two.

At 25:43 Brett Perlini levelled the game, and less than three minutes later Brett Bulmer scored shorthanded to put the Panthers ahead, and just 36 seconds after Perlini scored again to make it 4-2 to the visitors. Marc-Olivier Vallerand's goal just under five minutes from the end of the period ensured it would be just a one-goal game going into period three.

Eric Meland tied things up at 47:40 with what would be the last goal in regulation before Connolly's marker got the Steelers the extra point.
