Goals and assists
A big win for the Steelers perhaps not in score, but certainly in terms of their league position and race for the playoffs.
Viewers of the live FreeSports game, and those inside the Spectrum had to wait over 30 minutes to see the deadlock broken in Surrey. When it came, it went to the visitors, as Brandon Whistle found the net 19 seconds past the midway point in the game. Anthony DeLuca, who hit two goals in Manchester, doubled the lead with just over two minutes left in the middle period.
However Guildford were back in the game 39 seconds before the end of the same period, Erik Lindhagen converting to put the home side on the board and bring them back to within one.
Despite a couple of powerplay chances the Flames could not find a way past Jackson Whistle in the final 20 minutes, and the Steelers hung on for a one-goal win which moves them back into the playoff places.
