Game recap

Milton Keynes’ Friday night heroics to beat Guildford were not able to carry through into tonight’s game in Sheffield, as they went down by four goals at the FLY DSA Arena.

Sheffield were in control after a four-goal spree in the opening 20 minutes, but the game was scoreless through half of the first period. Robert Dowd opened the scoring when he was gifted a pass from Trevor Morbeck, and slotted past Patrick Killeen from close range at 10:36. 3:20 later it was 2-0, the visitors failed to clear their zone and allowed Evan McGrath to wrist-shot past Killeen. A loose puck in the crease was put home by Robert Dowd for the Steelers’ third at 17:44, and 57 seconds before the end of the period Brandon Whistle poked home a rebound to make it four.

Jonathan Phillips got the lone goal of the middle period, following up to fire home his own rebound at 27:32. MK did break Jackson Whistle’s shutout through Georgs Golovkovs 4:35 into the final period to give their good group of travelling fans something to cheer in what turned out to be the final goal of the game.
