Goals and assists
Sheffield Steelers ended their losing streak with a tight road win in Milton Keynes. The sides ended the first period all square with no goals, but were tied after 40 minutes thanks to a goal each in the middle period. Tom Zanoski scored on his Steelers debut as his wrist shot from the face-off circle flew past Patrick Killeen with 30:23 gone. Milton Keynes were level though just over two and a half minutes later as Robbie Baillargeon converted shorthanded at 32:56.
It was in the third period where the game was eventually decided – Sheffield re-gaining the lead with 53:58 on the clock as Ben O’Connor’s slapshot from the point was deflected by Rob Dowd and gave Killeen no chance. Matk Matheson fired in a shot from almost the same spot just under four minutes later which was saved, but this time Dowd was on hand to poke home the rebound for 3-1. A late empty net goal from Jordan Owens rounded off the night and added some gloss to the final score.
