Game recap

Sheffield Steelers - Anthony DeLuca - (Too Many Men(Bench Minor)), 2 MIN, 2:51

League leaders Cardiff got back to winning ways after two straight losses with a thumping win over Sheffield Steelers.

Charles Linglet got the ball rolling for the Devils at 9:19, but the Welsh side would have to earn their victory the hard way after Sheffield took control of the game. Goals a little under eight minutes apart from Josh Pitt and then Ben O’Connor had the Steelers leading by a goal after the first period. Evan McGrath put Sheffield 3-1 up at 24:06 capping an excellent 14 minutes or so for the visitors in which they scored three goals.

However, the Devils launched their own fight back not two minutes later as Linglet pounced on a loose puck in the crease for 2-3. James Livingston tied the game up at 30:14 before the Devils then moved ahead. Two goals 43 seconds apart from Mike Hedden and Joey Martin put the hosts into a 5-3 lead by the time the buzzer sounded at 40 minutes. Sean Bentivoglio’s goal at 42:18 gave Cardiff some breathing space, before Toms Rutkis rounded off the win with 1:52 to go, securing 7-3 win for the Devils.
