Sheffield Steelers today found a replacement forward
A new centreman, Yared Hagos, today signed as a replacement for outgoing Tyler Mosienko. He is 6' 1"and thirty three years old. He comes from the DEL where, for the last two seasons he has played for Krefeld Pinguine. In 2001 he was drafted to the Dallas Stars in the third round (70th overall).
He has played mainly in Sweden but in 2013 he moved to the DEL with Kölner Haie.
Coach Paul Thompson said “We were very fortunate to pick up such a quality player at short notice” said Thompson “We tried to bring Yared to Sheffield in the summer but he was hoping for a return to Germany. For whatever reason that move didn’t come off and he was happy to accept our advances when we called him last week.
“He has played at an incredibly high level his whole career. In Sweden but he has also left the home comforts for North America and Germany. I think too that he might be the first Swede to play for us who has played for his Country at all age levels including 20 games for the mens senior team."
Hagos described himself as a "good two way player. I try and help the team win. If the coach wants me to be offensive Id like to think I can score goals. If he wants me to help shut down other teams I’m equally as happy doing that – just as long as we win”
He hopes to be in the side that take on Dundee Stars on Saturday.
