Baltics earn three more points winning a willing but limited Romania

Lithuania stays unbeaten after the second day at World Championship Division I B in Zagreb, after a brilliant victory against Romania, that, conversely, remains with no points. After surviving a power play without dangers, Lithuania opens the score with a beautiful shot by Povilas Verenis after 5 minutes, doubling, after a series of good saves by goalie Otto Onodi, with a long-range shot by Mindaugas Kieras, deflecting with no chances for the goalie by the stick of a defender. While Romania tries to poke Pavliukov with shots from long distance, Onodi has to work much more on Laukaitis and Katulis. At 14:17 the Istvan Gereb troop find, unexpectedly, the first goal: a good wrap-around by Csanad Fodor ends in a wrist-shot not blocked by Pavliukov: Levente Lorincz is ready for the easy tap in. A a one-to-one not finalized by Gintautas and a post hit by Bosas, interspersed by a save of Paliukov on Tapu, marked the constant domain of the Baltics.

A difficult save by Onodi on Nomanovas opens a second period with same plot: Lithuania controlling the game and Romania trying to use counterattack. The Romanian fort stands until 29:28 when, on power play, a powerful one-timer of Nerijus Alisauskas literally planes on Onodi cage. After the goal the team in yellow understands that has anything to lose now and closes the period on attack, even if with one real danger for Pavliukov, a shot from Moldovan blocked seconds before the siren. Twenty seconds in the third and Lithuania seals the victory with a goal of Arnoldas Bosas, receiving a perfect pass by Daniel Bogdziul. Romania reacts with shots from Molnar and Fodor, blocked by Pavliukov. A couple of power play for Lithuania weaken last strength of Romania that suffers one more goal, scored by veteran Artur Katulis at 58:04
