The Nottingham Panthers were winners of the EIHL challenge cup.
For the eighth time the Nottingham Panthers lifted the Challenge Cup defeating last years winners Cardiff Devils in an end to end encounter.
It was only settled by defenceman Evan Mosey in the final two minutes of the first overtime period.
The game was a nail biting encounter with defences being on top throughout stifling good offensive chances for both sides. However, in the first period Tomas Kurka had the goal at his mercy but fanned on the shot after a rare slip from an otherwise sterling performance from Bowns in the Cardiff net.
After testing one another out in period one the Cardiff devils seemed to spring to life in the second and Andrew Lord and Guillame Doucet went close.
In the third it was obvious that no-one wanted to make a fatal slip up and Cardiff seemed to rely on quick breaks whilst at the other end Bowns pulled off an amazing save from Nottingham Panther, Jared Kolnik and both Brad Moran and Stephen Schultz hit the pipework.
Then up stepped Mosey to latch onto a feed from Brad Moran to rifle the puck home and send the Nottingham fans home happy.
