The current seventh place in the Western Conference with a 23-22 record but 24 points behind leader Lokomotiv Yaroslavl costs the position to Dynamo Moscow coach Harijs Vitolinš, fired after six seasons in the club, four as assistant coach and two as head coach, successor of two-time champion Olegs Znaroks. Coach of farm team Dynamo Balashikha Sergei Oreshkin was appointed as interim headcoach

"All happened quite suddenly. I can not say it's nice, but that's life. I did not ask to leave the team, I tried to do everything I could, but it happened, nothing can be done" said Vitolins in a statement to R-Sport website
