After the postponed Friday game, due to the pop concert rescheduling, Belfast Giants and Sheffield Steelers met on Saturday.

Belfast scored three, quick, first-period goals, including one from former Sheffield forward Colin Shields, in a 4-1 victory over the Steelers at the SSE Arena.

The Sheffield side were a shadow of their former fast skating selves and succumbed fairly easily, giving away easy turnovers to allow Belfast to take control.

David Ling netted on his return to the Nottingham Panthers as they ran riot and beat Dundee Stars 7-1 at the National Ice Centre.

Ryan Hayes scored four times to take his season's tally to 15 goals as Edinburgh Capitals thrashed Cardiff Devils 6-2 at Murrayfield.

In Fife, Danny Stewart scored on the night he set the EIHL record for games played by an import (563) as Fife Flyers won 4-3 at Manchester Storm.

ONTO SUNDAY

British international Craig Peacock scored the overtime-winning goal as Belfast Giants came from 4-2 down to win 5-4 in overtime at Dundee Stars.

Levi Nelson bagged the winner at the Sheffield Arena as Sheffield Steelers beat Manchester Storm 5-4, after the visitors had come from 4-0 down to tie the game at 4-4.

Sheffield had raced to a first period score of 4-0 but Manchester came back in the second only for Levi Nelson to put the Steelers in front again.

Fife Flyers scored two third-period goals to beat Braehead Clan 2-0 in Kirkaldy as Ryan Dingle and Shayne Stockton both scored their sixth goals of the season.

Ben Bowns saved all three penalty shots in the shootout as Cardiff Devils beat Nottingham Panthers 2-1 in the Big Blue Tent to maintain the 100%-winning record at home.
