First game of the season and the anticipation was huge on both teams, especially Linköping HC that had a great preseason.

Linköping HC played Djurgården IF in SAAB Arena at the opening game for season 2015/2016. Anticipation was huge for Linköping HC that in the preseason had gone undefeated and only lost 1 point home against SC Bern in Champions Hockey League.

But it was Djurgården IF that came out strongest in the first period and it was former Linköping HC defence player Linus Hultström that shot 1-0 behind Marcus Högberg.

Linköping HC struggled and it payed off after 12:40 when Niklas Fogström scored 1-1 on a pass from Jacob Lilja and Jonas Junland. The crowd was celebrating and cheering, but not for long. Only 13 seconds after Linköping HC reduced, Djurgården IF player Luke Vejdemo scored 2-1 for the visitors and the pass came from Linus Hultström that had a great night.

In the second period Linköping HC came out as a different team. They did not throw away as many pucks but still had trouble getting their joint attacks to work. But 2-2 would come and it was Nick Sörensen who came 1 on 1 with the keeper in Djurgården IF and scored a backhand shot. The pass was a beauty from young Gustav Forsling from extended goal line.

The third period was scoreless and the game went to overtime where Linköping HC started with a powerplay 4 against 3. It only took 16 seconds before Andrew Gordon scored the winning goal 3-2 for Linköping HC to the home crowd's delight.
