We met Derek Meech, defenseman Malmö Redhawks after Malmös\' win against HV71 and it was a happy and positive Derek who took his time and spoke with us.

What do you think about the game Derek?
- Considering the schedule that we had it's pretty impressive. It's been a tough travel schedule and some injuries and things like that and we battled hard. We did a good effort tonight, so it was exciting.

What about your own performance?
- I thought it was pretty good and like I said, it's a team effort that makes it easy to play. When all the guys are doing the right thing, it makes it a lot easier for the individual to succeed. I felt pretty good and it was a good team effort win.

With your experience, what will you bring in to Malmö?
- I've been around for a while and now it's my 13th professional season and I have had the opportunity to play with som great players. I have tried to learn a lot and hopefully I can bring in some of the stuff I've learned over the years. Also try to be a leader in the room and as far as my game goes on the ice, I'll try to move the puck quickly out of our own zone and jump up on a rush when the opportunity shows and try to contribute offensively.

This will be your first SHL season. What do you think about that and the teams potential?
- I'm excited so far. It's preseason, so you can't go tot high and too confident. So far I like the work ethic and I think that the foundation of our team has been pretty impressive so far. We work really hard at practise and if we do those things in games, we're going to be a pretty hard team to play against. Hopefully we can carry that in to regular season.
