Russian coach Oleg Znaroks and assistants Igor Nikitin and Valery Bragin named the squad to face Czech Republic on 05 and 07 February at Karlovy Vary and Prague for the Euro Hockey tour, which will meet in Novogorske 3 February to prepare for the matches of the Euro Tour in the Czech Republic. Team will meet on 03 February in Novogorsk. "We don't have much time to prepare ourselves" said Znaroks. "Our aim was to broaden the spectrum of hockey players". Team including four players from U20 team, silver medalist in Toronto WJC at the beginning of the month: goalies Ilya Sorokin and Igor Shesterkin, defender Vladislav Gavrikov, named Tournament Best Defender, and forward Ivan Fischenko. Between the goalies, first cap for Maxim Tretiak, grandson of legendary Vladislav.
