History is about to be made tonight, at least for Croatian hockey. The first Croatian-born hockey player will make his debut in the NHL - Borna Rendulić.
Borna Rendulić might become the first Croatian-born player to ever play in the NHL and thus make his dream come true. His Colorado Avalanche host the Nashville Predators tonight at 3am CET and Rendulić is expected to be dressed up and skate on the fourth line.
Rendulić finally got his long-awaited chance to fulfill his dreams. Upon receiving the superb news in the Lake Erie Monsters' team bus, where he has been playing so far in the AHL, he was overly excited, per KHL.HR.
"I'm all too happy! I've been waiting a long time for
this and now finally the hard work pays off!"
Borna was doing great so far in the Avalanche AHL affiliate. Prior to getting his chance at the training camp this preseason, he played in the Finnish Liiga, where he developed the most as a player.
KHL.HR also stated that Rendulić so far doesn't have any further info on who he'll play with, but he's expected to be in the fourth line.
Even though the game starts at 3 am CET, there is no doubt there will be more than a few Croatians depriving themselves from sleeping tonight.
