NLA weekend round up

NLA weekend round up

19 Oct 2014 | Andreas Reiner

Lakers and Ambri winless, Zug and ZSC Lions with a win each and Kloten goes 1-1 against romand teams.

Ambri's weekend was a weekend to forget. 1 goal in two games while receiving 8 goals puts the team of Serge Pelletier on 8th spot. Against SC Bern on Friday, Byron Ritchie, Martin Plüss and Alain Berger scored unanswered goals to take 3 points.

The Lakers are on a slow decent and have almost reached rock bottom. Only Fribourg-Gottéron has had a worse start to this season. Hans Kossmann was fired and as of tomorrow, Gerd Zenhäusern who was the assistant coach for league rival EHC Biel will take over as head. Rapperswil coach Anders Eldebrink's goal this season was to receive less than 150 goals in total (last season the Lakers received 200 goals, that's 4 goals per game and the worst in the NLA). He seems to get there but on his way isn't picking up many points, only 10 points out of 15 games is just too little. Even the Swedish additions can't help eventhough they're being utilized for powerp play, box play and at times also play extra shifts. A loss at home against Lugano (0-2) and a 3-2 loss to Zug was the consequence.

That brings us to EV Zug. They find themselves on 4th spot and have a chance to get closer to third spot when they meet HC Davos away this afternoon in the only game of today. The Lions have a similar weekend. They beat Ambri-Piotta away yesterday with a 5-1 win. Luca Cunti with two goals was the match winner for the team from Zurich-Oerlikon. They scored 5 goals in a row, Daniele Grassi's goal in the 59th minute was just a cosmetic change to the loss for the biancoblu.

After their late win in Geneva, the Flyers hosted Lausanne HC at home in which Kloten's Tommi Santala seemed to have slowly found a way to score goals again. With a goal and an assist he was the most productive player on his team. Also last years Top Scorer Peter Mueller added an assist in his second game. But the real match winner was Lausanne's finish forward Ossi Louhivaara who scored a first goal of the game and also added 2 assists to the sheet last night. Harri Pesonen's game winning goal was too much yesterday for the Flyers who couldn't react and lost their first game after being on a 4-game winning streak. They'll get a chance tomorrow evening when they visit rival ZSC Lions to the second derby of the season.
